An excerpt from Chapter 7
Occasionally, I piss out some words I'm kind of proud about
Attention internet men:
If any of you people reading this also see me on YouTube or Twitter (X), you probably heard me mention once or twice that I’m slowly getting around to pissing out a generic manosphere book. Mostly as practice, actually. I have some ideas for real books - a couple of fiction books actually - but I want to learn the dirty ins and outs of how to turn scribbles from my keyboard into something on people’s Kindle apps before I try my hand at a real book.
I’m something like 108 pages into this thing, and every time I go back and reread what I’ve written, I think I’m a long-winded blowhard whose writing style is terrible to parse. But that’s what practice is for, right?
So anyway, I’m currently mired in Chapter 7, which talks about therapy and mental health and it’s hilarious place in 2024 as the modern religion. And I stopped after the most recent page and reread it. And actually thought it was all right. And right now, this Substack of mine only has a handful of articles and needs to be buffed out a bit, so I thought I’d drop you guys a short excerpt.

Just a few short years ago in 2019, the American Psychiatric Association (APA) issued its first-ever guidance for psychiatric practice with regard to men and boys. Before you jump for joy thinking, “Yes! Finally somebody cares about the stresses and difficulties facing men and the effect of this on their psyche”, remember that the primary goal of society is to keep as many men as possible happily serving the needs of others as dutiful workhorses, and finding fulfillment in the performance of this noble duty in the absence of any benefit to themselves. The APA agrees with that goal wholeheartedly.
Specifically, it’s been noted that men commit more crimes than women, commit suicide more often than women, have shorter life expectancies than women (by about 5 years on the average), are more likely to be diagnosed with disorders that affect their performance in schools than women, and face harsher punishments in all levels of society ranging from school to employment to the legal system. Luckily, the therapist profession has figured out the real reason behind this and not the extremist reasons I and the internet manosphere might fill your head with: “traditional masculinity” is psychologically harmful to boys and men, and people need to stop being so traditional and so masculine.
As we all know, traditional masculinity teaches all boys and men from a very young age to suppress all emotion, drink large amounts of alcohol, smoke copious amounts of tobacco, never see doctors, treat women as sub-human property, and especially never eat vegetables.
Do you remember these lessons growing up as young boys? Yeah, me neither. In fact, I’m pretty sure my entire life, I’ve been taught the exact opposite of all of that. But I’m not taking liberties with my summary of the ludicrous position adopted by the APA. It is literally the official position of the therapy profession that “traditional masculinity” leads to unhealthy and risky behaviors like “avoiding vegetables”.
Even worse, the therapy profession has concluded that traditional masculinity causes men to do the unthinkable: have a negative outlook about seeking mental health services!
Only an extremely unhealthy individual would attempt to make it through a period of his life that he finds emotionally difficult without paying a licensed expert to talk to him about his feelings. It’s 2024. As a society, we know how important mental health is now. Normal people lack sufficient expertise to handle their own feelings. That’s what therapists are for. They have degrees and licenses and everything! Without the assistance of these experts, a man who is afflicted with “traditional masculinity” and is feeling emotions is sure to engage in dangerous behaviors, and may even hurt other people.
In fact, several governments and government-adjacent organizations have begun to discuss the idea that groups of internet men who focus on a masculine identity that is not socially approved, such as the internet manosphere, should be regarded as terrorist groups that encourage murder, rape, and other forms of violence, stemming from a sense of male superiority and the dehumanization of women. Archwinger, my internet alter-ego, might be on a watch list in Europe. I’m serious.
There’s a lot to unpack about this issue, but I think it’s best to just summarize that pretty much every sub-group within the internet manosphere widely recognizes that committing crime is a terrible life strategy for men. Even if you’re a soulless and evil male of horrible character who thirsts to dominate women due to your extreme bigotry, the enormous risk of consequences alone ought to keep you in check. And the vast majority of men are a little less evil than that simply because being that evil is really difficult and takes an exhausting amount of effort. A better strategy more widely supported by the internet manosphere includes cleaning up one’s diet and gym routine, dressing and grooming well, learning how to talk to women in a way that’s fun and not socially weird, then having consensual sex with an enthusiastic partner.
But I guess terrorism is pretty cool, too.

Can't wait for this book
Really interesting thoughts. It should form a good chapter. I did have to backtrack a few times to capture where you were using hyperbole or sarcasm to make a point, and where I need to figure out that you had stopped the sarcasm for the next paragraph. But, all in all, I'd rather have a book with great ideas that I have to studiously pore over, than no book from a powerful thinker.
