I'll be ordering it when it's released. Rian's books were good. I'm pretty sure yours will be good as well.

Half the time I re-read it, I can’t believe how awesome it is. The other half, it feels like I’m trying to drink a milkshake through one of those tiny coffee straws and my brain finds my own writing clunky and hard to parse. I probably need the exact right amount of whiskey in my system to experience it right. Not too much, but definitely not too little.

How about Mild Brook, your gentle alter ego?

The main character kinda sorta gets better and learns a lesson in the end. So maybe Mr. Brooks is a gentleman author who can appeal to the ladies!

Your typical man buys 1-2 books a year, if that. There's not much of a market for male-focused fiction. Men are too busy working 14+ hours a day plus side hustles, and when they finally get a minute of free time, they've either been convinced they need to spend it grinding and self-improving even more, or they prefer a more active hobby like video games over reading.

The reason the fiction market is all by-women-for-women slop is because that's where the money is. Wine moms have the time and disposable income for Monday night book club and caring what's on the NYT bestseller list.

Hope you enjoy it. I must have gone through and edited that thing a dozen times. The first draft was 10k words longer. I took a lot of prose and side anecdotes out to focus more on the good stuff. It's dense, but in a good way.

I'n maybe 20k words into my next book. The wife laughed hard at the first few chapters. It's a little bit of a modern homage to kafka's metamorphosis - one of my favorite reads.
